PreDoctoral Leadership Development Academy

The PreDoctoral Leadership Development Academy (PLDA), is a one-year program designed to provide doctoral students from a broad array of academic disciplines with the supplemental knowledge and skills needed for academic and administrative leadership roles. Recipients of the PLDA Badge have successfully completed the program. PLDA is open to any Rutgers University doctoral student from Camden, Newark, New Brunswick, and Rutgers Health (formerly RBHS). Earner Criteria: A doctoral student from any discipline within the university who is nominated and accepted to the program. Attend the required didactic and experiential learning sessions which include pre-session readings and participating in class discussion and activities. Complete the CliftonStrengths Assessment and Leadership Competency Scorecard, and reflect on what these results might indicate regarding one’s leadership practices. Engage in conversation with program faculty and guest speakers regarding issues related to leadership in higher education. Complete a personal leadership self-assessment and improvement plan.
