Advanced - Mouse In Vivo Techniques
Earner developed hands-on experience in advanced dosing, anesthesia, use of surgical equipment, and survival surgery techniques. They gained knowledge in aseptic technique for surgery, controlled substances, anesthesia and analgesia, pre-, peri- and postoperative care, and other pertinent topics in laboratory animal medicine. Acquired skills for handling, performing techniques, and caring for rodent laboratory animals. Developed an understanding of the principles of animal welfare and ethical treatment of animals during advanced procedures. Utilized lab animal science concepts to perform advanced hands-on techniques commonly used while working with mice including advanced dosing, anesthesia, and surgical techniques. Demonstrated skills in pre-surgical preparation, anesthetic management, surgical technique and post-operative recovery and monitoring, rodent ovariectomies and subcutaneous implant surgeries.

Earning Criteria
Required
Earner completed 8-12 hours of asynchronous online content and four 2-hour in-person training sessions. 100% attendance and scoring an average of 1.5-2 on all assessments. Once attendees complete the online content, they will attend the in-person portions, where they will be required to demonstrate proficiency in all covered techniques.
Demonstrated skills in pre-surgical preparation, anesthetic management, surgical technique and post-operative recovery and monitoring, rodent ovariectomies, and subcutaneous implant surgeries.
Utilized lab animal science concepts to perform advanced hands-on techniques commonly used while working with mice, including advanced dosing, anesthesia, and surgical techniques.
Performed at least 3 post-operative checks following survival surgery.
